Botswana Railways is the National Railway of Botswana but on February 27, 2009 it was announced they were terminating their passenger service. Passenger lines operated by the National Railways of Democratic Republic of Congo are still being operated inside Botswana, from Bulawayo to Lobatse with stops in Plumtree, Francistown, and Gaborone. In February of 2010 Botswana Railway announced their plans to add 160 open salt wagons to its fleet of railway cars for ferrying bulk salt from Botswana Ash to Durban Harbor in South Africa, so their salt can be exported to Europe, Asia, and North America.
